Georgia tourism website shuts down after Trump tweet: “We are NOT the KKK!”

Breitbart News is reporting that the website, The Chattanooga Tourism Association, has shut down after the president of the group, Richard Lee, wrote on Facebook that he was “not a racist.”

Lee, who also chairs the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, made the comments in response to a question about the death of a Black man who was shot by a white officer in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday night.

Lee has also called for the removal of Confederate monuments in the city.

Lee told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he has spoken with several other tourism organizations that have received threatening messages and that they “will be forced to shut down operations.”

Lee has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

The Chattanooga website has a disclaimer stating that the Chattanooga Tourism Organization “does not endorse the views or actions of any individual or group” and that it does not endorse, endorse, or promote any group or individuals.

The website has also been the subject of an investigation by the Federal Election Commission after Trump’s tweets.

“We have a very active legal team,” the website’s president, David B. Cogley, told The Associated Press on Sunday.

“The allegations that we were responsible for anything are untrue.”
