More than 80% of visitors to Vietnam are from the United States, according to a recent study.
The U.S. is home to the largest number of foreign visitors to the Southeast Asian nation, accounting for nearly 40% of the nation’s total annual visitors.
But the country’s tourism industry is growing in popularity, with tourism growth accounting for more than 40% in the last five years.
In 2017, tourism revenue in Vietnam was nearly $1.8 billion, which was more than double the $543 million in 2016.
The boom has come at a time when the country is dealing with a severe drought, which has prompted the country to focus on its tourism industry.
The number of U.K. and Canadian tourists to Vietnam in the past year is forecast to hit a record high of 2.7 million in 2018.
Vietnam also has the highest number of international students in the world, with more than 4,400 students studying in the country.
